Title: 3D printing start and stop
Post by: ArchEssi on September 22, 2026, 01:04:35 PM
Dear friends,
If I want to define in the path where the 3D printing starts and where it stops, do we have any option like what we have for grippers?
Thanks,
Essi

Hi Essi,
There is no standard way, it depends on your extruder. Let's assume that your extruder has got an external speed controller (like just a rotary knob) plus a digital input for ON/OFF. So on the KUKA side, you would then configure a digital output and link it up, e.g. to $OUT[5]. In KUKA|prc you could then use a Custom KRL component with "$OUT[5]=TRUE" or "$OUT[5]=FALSE".
But that is just an example. An extruder might use an actual KUKA motor so that you can control it via the E1, or it might have an analogue speed input.
So unfortunately there is no definitive way to answer that!
Best,
Johannes
