Full-time continuing position.
The Melbourne School of Design Fabrication workshop is a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary space for making with technology that aims to create a hands-on and inspiring environment encouraging experimentation with technology, materials and processes of making.
Under the direction of the fabrication team manager, the robotics laboratory coordinator will play a key role in driving and directing the growth of the newly established robotics laboratory through the support and development of robotic fabrication design projects and research. The position works closely with academic staff, assisting subject design requirements and providing digital output services to the student cohort.
The coordinator will manage the inventory and equipment for the robotics laboratory, which currently includes four new industrial robotic arms. The incumbent will guide and provide instruction to faculty staff and students, providing a creative and encouraging learning space for all levels of makers.
The position will oversee the administrative coordination for the Robotics Lab, including the rostering and coordination of casual staff, and workload reporting to the fabrication team manager.
The successful candidate will have a high level of competency in developing custom robotic applications and processes for new and experimental uses for robots.
