The Opportunity
The College of Arts and Creative Enterprises seeks a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Postdoctoral Fellowship in Robotics at the CACE Digital Fabrication Lab. The appointment should start as soon as possible on the Dubai campus. The expected duration of the position is two years with a possibility of renewal for a third year.
Under supervision of the Principal Investigator of the Research Cluster "21st Century Fabrication and Robotics" the fellow co-supervises the work of undergraduate students and staff, publishes research papers, contributes to grant writing and project development, and helps shape the overall scope and direction of the research in the lab. The primary focus of the fellowship is on research related to the advancement of robotic fabrication methods in the context of Art and Design education in the United Arab Emirates. We address educational challenges and questions that arise from the use of innovative fabrication technologies in the UAE environment We research the impact of these technologies onto the quality of the students´ work, and derive answers from these works to adjust and shape the direction of current and future curricula.
With the Postdoctoral Fellowship in Robotics the College expects the digital fabrication field to become one of its prime sources for publication/research output. The fellow is granted an annual budget to be spent on infrastructure development, material, dissemination of research results, or the like.

The Requirements
The postdoctoral fellow must have a solid background in all aspects of robotic machining, preferably in the Arts and Design fields. Our research addresses local students, and their specific needs regarding the usage of robotic devices. The fellow is expected to actively contribute to the generation of new knowledge in this field. The fellow is also expected to contribute to the further development of the lab´s technological infrastructure.
Applicants must have earned a Doctoral degree in a field related to the position, and demonstrate a strong record of research and publications in the field. Even though teaching is not required, the successful applicant should have a record of teaching and is expected to co-supervise students.
The successful candidate should demonstrate versatility, forward thinking, and advanced working knowledge of leading technology in the field of Robotic Machining. The candidates´ approach and experience in engaging students in digital fabrication through robotics or other fabrication tools, should be evident from their statement of teaching philosophy.

Successful candidates will also demonstrate:
• Dedication to curricular innovation.
• Strong commitment to scholarship and creative activities, and an interest in collaboration.
• Strong commitment to the dissemination of research results through publications in scholarly journals.
• Substantial level of proficiency in the usage of hard- and software related to the field.
• Willingness to administer and enhance the lab´s infrastructure in conjunction with the lab technician.
