Support / Enhancement wishes for the "Analysis" window
« on: January 28, 2020, 09:14:28 AM »
I attached a "mock-up" of a possible evolution of the "Analysis" window.

First and foremeost, I think that priority should be given to respect the execution speed (or percentage of execution speed selected by the user), and that the framerate should always adapt.
In other words, the framerate should always be as high as possible for a given simulation speed , and that for two reasons :
-Who would set a crappy framerate on purpose anyways ?
-Who would want the simulation to not reflect the intended speed ?

If, despite a slower framerate, the simulation can not reflect the desired speed, then there should be a WARNING ! sign because it is not accurate, and accuracy is a desired attribute of a simulation.

Then I added a regular slider to make a "rough" positionning, and would use the white dotted line to make more accurate positionning.

The traditionnal buttons would be used to  "Play" and "Stop" of course, but also "go to start" and "go to end", which is not easy to do with the present interface.

I'm going to follow your advice and not use Folds. I don't need them anyways.

Search ?
How would I go about and search for a line in a program on KRC2 ?

I tried "Touch up", but it takes 10 minutes to open a sort of editor mode which is completely frozen ; I even thought I'd never get out of there.

Support / Animation stops randomly
« on: January 27, 2020, 07:51:23 PM »
As can be seen in this video :

The animation stops randomly, and it needs to be prodded by the "dotted slider line" to resume.

I think it would be nice to have an option  for not displaying the path which lies before the current animation frame (the one that has already been traveled trhough).
That would probably speed the animation as less and less path has to be drawn, and in some cases make things clearer.

What do you think ?

Maybe my explanation isn't clear enough.

I cann't use a comment, because I don't know in advance which line I will need to jump to !

For example, 1 hour ago, I ran in one of those nasty "CIRC parameter inadmissible" messages (using the Fusion NC importer component by the way) , and the execution of the program is halted.
So from there, if I want to jump after the problematic line and resume the program (instead of re-doing the program and running it from the start - HOURS !!!!), how can I jump to the said line ?
Since the commands were in fold, when I unfold, I'm at the beginning of the program, see ?

This KRC2 thing is so slow that the window elevator is useless. For now I just press "down" and wait, and it feels so dumb !

Sorry for this question not directly related to KUKA|prc, but : once a program is selected, how can I jump to a certain line ?
The "Escalator" slider is super slow in a program with over 25 000 lines...

Support / Re: File description cannot be processed

Hi Johannes,

Thanks for coming back to me.
"Actually when you enter the project name it does overlay it in red"
AHA ! I see that now.
The reason I didn't notice is that I use the "Expose file name and save output" option.

As I process many Gcode files from Fusion, I use GH to reformat the file names and input them directly in the KUKA|prc main component.
As you know, I'm not a fan of all the stuff that goes on in the main component, despite the sleek interface, as I feel it deprives me from many possibilities offered by GH.

You might want to add a "Filename compliance" to the "Analysis" component...

Don't use a number at the beginning of a file name!

Oh gawwwd ! That's so silly...
Is KRC4 as autistic as KRC2 in that respect ?
Could you add warnings regarding compliance of src file names to the KUKA sticklings ?

Hi Johannes,

There's something fishy with this .SRC file : I get the infamous "FILE DESCRIPTION CANNOT BE PROCESSED" message.

I just spent an hour fiddling with file names and just could'nt find what it is the controller doesn't like about it...

I made further checks, and found out that the "Standard" Tool offset component is also kind of flakey.
It doesn't add a line in the beginning, apparently, but still suppresses a line in the end...sometimes.

Hi Johannes,

I've spotted a bug with the "Experimental" offset tool you sent me : it adds an extra line at the beginning, just after the plunge move (start offset), and forgets the last move before the end offset.
I use this tool a lot ; I really hope you can come up with this in a not too distant future.

Yes, this is what I would like, and what makes for the most consistent logic, IMO

I like all my important values to be right before my eyes.
Did you know that David first named Grasshopper "Explicit History" ?

It doesn't make sense to me that :
-In the case of the "Feed" rate, you can only toggle whether or not you want to use the one from the .xml Gcode
-In the case of the "Rapid" rate, you can over-ride with a value

Why not allow to override both with a value ? That way, you have a consistent way to both :
-Choose if you want to keep the value from the .xml
-If you want to override, set a new value

It's similar to my remark with the Tool offset component : please go all the way to make it simple and easy to set th e various speeds.

I have set a specific value for the "Rapid" input in the "Fusion" component, but I can see that value defined nowhere in the .SRC file
I wish that there was an input to over-ride whatever process speed is defined in the .xml file exported from fusion, and that the "Rapid" input actually affects the speed of travel in the "hops" between actual milling.

General Discussion / Re: WISH : Analysis - Null Axis values if out of range
« on: September 20, 2018, 10:24:58 PM »
Nope, I can see that I have an angle value for A1, but still get all Ones.
Moreover, why would I have values for axii 7 to 10 since I haven't used them ?
